
Strange Fruit is a top local jazz trio led by bass player Paul Francis,featuring Kelly Dale's smooth vocals and pianist/vocalist extraordinaire Mick Smith. Drums and saxophone can be added if desired.
Their repertoire covers classic Jazz, Latin, Bossa Nova and Pop tunes from the American Songbook and popular music.Drawing inspiration from Jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Astrud Gilberto,along with contemporary icons like Norah Jones, Bonnie Raitt The Beatles Marvin Gaye Aretha Franklin.

Paul Francis has performed,recorded, or toured in festivals and clubs all over the world with such artists as Midge Ure, Paul Weller, London Beat, Ian Hunter,The James Taylor Quartet at The Nice jazz festival,Maggie Bell at Ronnie Scott's club in London (supporting The Elvin Jones Quintet) and The Jazz Cafe with his own band.
Kelly Dale has been immersed in music since childhood, starting as a chorister at Salisbury Cathedral before earning top music scholar at Sherborne School.Kelly debuted as lead vocalist for Wessex Big Band in 2016. She now also performs with Deane Big Band, Emerald Jazz, and gigs solo across the Southwest.
Mick Smith has performed in 28 countries around the world, with tv appearances in three. A south coast stalwart Mick has played hundreds of gigs in jazz venues and at festivals, including as founder and illustrious leader of The Dinnerjazz Revolutionaries. Career highlights include supporting Jamiroquai and jamming with Princes band.
